It seems everyone knows that alcohol and underage kids can cause a myriad of health and safety problems and drinking while underage is an offence, some kids just don’t get. Recently, thirteen high school students were cited for possession of alcohol and two were taken to a hospital on prom night after the students got into an argument with their limousine driver.
Police were called to a dispute near the Bethesda Hyatt Regency Hotel between a limousine driver and a group of high school students attending Walt Whitman High School's prom. According to police the driver had confronted the students about drinking in his limousine. Apparently, the students disputed the accusation; the resultant argument attracting the attention of hotel security and school staff.
Some of the students needed medical treatment. A 17-year-old boy and girl were taken to an area hospital for treatment because of the amount of alcohol they had consumed. They were treated and released. Two flasks that contained alcohol and water bottles that smelled of alcohol were found in the limousine, police said.
A total of thirteen male and female students were cited for possession of alcohol by a person under the age of 21. One female student was cited for possession of a false ID. The students who were not taken for treatment were picked up by their parents, as the limo exercised its right to refuse service.
